Santana Pegasus is designed and developed like a traditional ST model, but it is equipped with some modifications that make it more adapted to the modern electric guitarist. Pegasus is equipped with a Basswood body, which gives the electric guitar a well-defined sound that cuts well and gives the guitar warmth and midrange. The neck has been given a special treatment, where you “bake” the wood in an oxygen-poor environment, to draw all excess moisture out of the wood – it gives the guitar a more resonant and expressive tone similar to the tone you get from an electric guitar, which is old and worn.

Pickups

Single coil pickups The pickups are specially developed according to vintage specifications so that they retain the original look of the ST model. However, Santana has chosen to make the pickups more powerful and balanced, so that they better meet the tastes and needs of the modern electric guitarist. Rail humbucker pickups One of the points where the Pegasus Deluxe differs from the Standard series is the pickups. Here we have chosen to mount humbuckers, instead of single coils, which sit in the Standard models. The Humbucker pickup has a somewhat more powerful output, and at the same time the advantage that it does not make unwanted noise as much as a single coil. However, as we wanted to preserve the visual expression of an ST style guitar, we chose to use rail humbuckers, which have the same physical size as regular single coils.

Luxury details

2-point tremolo, genuine bone saddle and locking tuners are some of the very useful luxury details on the Pegasus Standard. These features mean far better tuning stability, giving you more time for carefree guitar playing. Another useful feature is the “easy access truss rod”. Visually, a little extra has also been made out of it. Among other things, Pegasus has a nice satin finish and of course the cool “S” inlays in the fingerboard.
